Strategic partnerships with patent organisations

In order to maintain an effective and modern IP system it is necessary to actively engage with the authorities. The Patent and Trademark Centre is connected with decision-makers on a number of levels.

DPMA – The German Patent and Trade Mark Office

For 145 years now, the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA) has been the central authority for the protection of intellectual property in Germany. It is the largest national patent and trade mark office in Europe and the fifth-largest worldwide. As a higher federal authority, the DPMA operates as part of the portfolio of the Federal Ministry of Justice (BMJ).

As our official partner, the DPMA is not only a point of contact when it comes to new developments relating to IP rights but also a source of expertise on German industrial property rights.

EPA – European Patent Office

The Patent and Trademark Centre Rhine-Main is a member of the PATLIB Network (PATent LIBrary). This alliance of European patent information centres is supported by the EPA and the national patent offices. It provides a forum for a regular exchange of experiences.
